I used to really agonize over the fact that I did not and could not understand some things - yet a day or so later it would just make sense! So it dawned on me: perhaps my brain physically had to grow connections before I could make sense of whatever new observation or knowledge I gained...

Don't you think it's a small miracle that learning is possible at all? After all - how do you teach someone multiplication or exponents or logarithms without first teaching them addition? How can you ask somebody to identify a pattern - without first somehow communicating the pattern to them?
